ISICIP 2025 | NLRP3 Inflammasome: The Missing Link in Sepsis Survival

Viva in Vitro en ISICIP symposium NLRP3

Viva In Vitro Diagnostics fosters international dialogue on immunological biomarkers at ISICIP 2025

Sepsis remains one of the most critical challenges in intensive care medicine worldwide. In this context, the role of immunological biomarkers is becoming increasingly essential to improve prognosis, risk stratification, and clinical decision-making.

As part of the scientific program at ISICIP 2025, Viva In Vitro Diagnostics is proud to take part in a key symposium: “NLRP3 Inflammasome: The Missing Link in Sepsis Survival”, scheduled for October 17 in Barcelona.

This session will bring together internationally renowned experts in intensive care, immunology, and clinical research to examine how the NLRP3 inflammasome is emerging as one of the most promising biomarkers for improving the clinical management of sepsis.

Symposium Program

  • 11:00 – 11:10h | Opening & Moderation
“The Importance of Biomarkers in Sepsis Diagnosis and Risk Stratification”
    Dr. Ricard Ferrer
Head of the Intensive Care Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona, Spain).
  • 11:10 – 11:30h | Keynote Lecture
“From Molecular Mechanisms to Clinical Phenotypes in Sepsis”
    Prof. Evangelos Giamarellos
Professor of Internal Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). Leading European researcher in immune mechanisms and clinical stratification of septic patients.

  • 1:30 – 11:50h | Keynote Lecture
“Clinical Utility of NLRP3 as a Biomarker in Severe Infections”
    Prof. Pablo Pelegrín
Full Professor of Immunology at the University of Murcia and IMIB (Spain). Co-founder and Scientific Advisor of Viva In Vitro Diagnostics, and one of the world’s foremost experts in inflammasome research.

This symposium aims not only to present high-level scientific evidence but also to strengthen the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome as a clinically actionable biomarker—with the potential to reduce mortality, improve treatment efficiency, and enable a shift toward personalized medicine in critical care.

At Viva In Vitro, we are proud to drive this international conversation, supported by the European Union’s EIC Transition programme, and committed to delivering diagnostic solutions that are fully compatible with current clinical workflows in hospital settings.
