Collaboration between AseBio and Viva In Vitro Diagnostics
Every 13 September, World Sepsis Day is commemorated, a disease that, according to the WHO, causes between 48 and 50 million cases annually and at least 11 million deaths worldwide. In Spain, the figure reaches between 15,000 and 20,000 deaths each year.
To mark this date, at Viva in Vitro we have collaborated with AseBio (Spanish Bioindustry Association) to raise awareness about the magnitude of this global health problem and the solutions that biotechnology is developing to address it.
The voice of research and medicine
Our co-founder, Dr. Pablo Pelegrín Vivancos, Full Professor of Immunology at the University of Murcia, Principal Investigator at the Murcian Institute for Biosanitary Research (IMIB) in Immunology, and founder of Viva in Vitro, highlights:
“Our VIVA-ELISA® technology provides an evaluation of the immune response, allowing us to anticipate the evolution of sepsis patients and the risk of severe complications.”
Dr. Ricard Ferrer, Head of Intensive Care Medicine at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona), points out:
“We are collaborating in the clinical validation of this technology and in quantifying the value it brings to the management of sepsis and severe infections.”
Marianne Haverkamp, sepsis survivor, brings the patient’s perspective:
“Surviving is only the beginning: afterwards comes a tough and often lonely stage. We cannot allow lives to depend on luck.”
Innovation to transform diagnosis
At Viva in Vitro, we continue to advance with pioneering projects in collaboration with leading hospitals in Spain and Europe, convinced that early detection and biotechnological innovation are key to saving lives and reducing long-term consequences.
